(FEN stands for Far East Network and was a radio station in Japan run by the American military for servicemen, however it was also popular in the 70s/80s because it played the latest American hit music.)This has been my favorite Onyanko Club song as of late, it’s certainly one of their more mature songs (in both lyrics and sound). The use of FEN as the radio station they’re listening to as well as the reference to several stereotypically “Western” item such as Backgammon, Sotheby tables and wine, as well Onyanko Club’s history of scandalous lyrics, open the song to the interpretation that the song is about an affair with a US serviceman. Nyan-nyan!
